Woodworks

Woodworking has long been a hobby and passion of mine.

The orderly chaos of natural processes is literally engrained in the raw material over decades of growth, and us humans can only work to remove material from the workpiece.

This irreversible removal of material means that in order to reach the desired form precisely, we must work slowly and patiently, plan well in advance, and know when to stop.

This project, done in the 2nd year of my bachelor's studies, began as an exercise in product concept development. The concept was later adapted to an existing commercial brand of my choice, LOGIBLOCS, in terms of morphology, materials, marketing, branding and brand values.

This family of vases was inspired by a style of ancient Roman glass jugs I saw in an exhibit. The jugs' square body and long round neck reminded me of a square wooden workpiece as it is being turned on a lathe.

Maple, African Walnut, Sapele.

A 3-legged stool with unusual angles. Done as a first-year shop project.

The odd leg is the one holding the other two together.

Cherry, African Walnut, Black Walnut.
